Brief Bio: Mario Andretti, better known as, Dinero Andretti of the Custom Sneaker Community, was born in Louisville, KY and raised in the heart of West Louisville, the Russell Neighborhood. He graduated from Atherton High School in 2004. While in school and coping with the deaths of multiple childhood friends, he began to isolate his self and found something other than the “streets” to focus his time and energy on. That is when he found his love of art.
In the beginning, just designing and transforming his own sneakers to wear to school, his fellow classmates did not hesitate and wanted “in” on the new trend. After high school ended, he let his talent for designing sneakers lay dormant for the next couple of years.
Around the Summer of 2010 he decided to reconnect with his passion for art and started designing again. With the help of Social Media, he was able to share his creations with people all over the world. After a few years of hard work and dedication to his art, 100’s of shoe’s painted, customized, or restored, his following begin to grow with the anticipation of “What is he going to post next?”. Dinero was interviewed for an online blog the Fall of 2015. Shortly after Wave 3 News reached out to do a story on him. He was then featured in the January 2016 issue of Louisville Magazine.
Dinero Andretti has had the pleasure of working with and for legendary Fashion Designer Jeff Hamilton (of Jeff Hamilton Jackets and Guess Jeans) and Derek Anderson (former NBA and University of Kentucky basketball player). He has partnered with the Kentucky Derby Muesum to celebrate the historical wins of the Triple Crown Winners American Pharoah and Justify, and was just recently commissioned by Red Bull Media, to complete a one-of-a-kind, hand painted, custom pair of sneakers for NBA Los Angeles Clippers power forward and former University of Louisville basketball player Montrezl Harrell.
